Acer has officially announced their new Aspire One notebook. This new 8.9-inch, 1024 x 600 pixel laptop is powered by Intel’s Atom processor and runs XP or Linux.
It will include up to 1GB of RAM, 802.11b/g WiFi, choice of 8GB of flash storage or 80GB hard drive, SD card slot to expand storage and webcam. Battery included is
3-cell, 2200mAh but there is optional 6-cell battery.
The Aspire One is expected to be available in September for $399.

- 8.9″ LED, 1024×600 resolution
- 512MB of RAM, max 1GB
- 8GB of SSD or 80GB HDD
- SD card reader (5-types)
- Four colours: Blue, White, Coffee Gold and Pink
- 248mm x 170mm x 29mm
- 3hrs (3-cell) and 6hrs (6-cell) battery options
- 3G and WiMax options to be available later in the year

Not only is it official, but we just got in a pre-production unit of the Aspire one at my office. Looks like it could offer solid competition to the Eee PC:
