Rockstar Nortel

Rockstar is jointly owned by Apple, BlackBerry, Ericsson, Microsoft and Sony, and the consortium bought for $4.5 billion Nortel patents. Rockstar is suing Samsung, HTC, Huawei and four other companies for patent infringement in U.S. District Court in Texas. Google is accused of infringing with seven patents, that cover technology that helps match internet search terms with relevant advertising. In 2011 Google placed $900 million bid for Nortel’s patents but even at $4.4 billion final offering, Google lost to Rockstar and went to acquire Motorola Mobility for $12.5 billion.. Rockstar is now seeking increased damages against Google.
