Twitter's emergency alert service for UK

Twitter has released its emergency alert service for users in UK. Users who would like to receive alerts, need to go to each organization’s Twitter feed and sign up. When alert is issued, they will receive  text message and notification in their Twitter timeline with orange bell. In this UK alert service are also the London Fire Brigade, the Foreign Office and the UK’S 47 regional police forces. This alert will be used only to share urgent information about significant risk to life or environment. The emergency alert service was developed after Japanese tsunami in 2011 and it was released in September in US, South Korea and Japan.
