Aston Martin began with production of its small small car in 2011, but it will end this production at the end of the year. Company targeted annual sales of ca. 4,000 but they sold fewer than 150. The main reason for unsuccessful sale was probably $51,500 selling price that was double the price of competing cars in that segment such as Audi’s A1 and BMW’s Mini series. According to Aston Martin, no jobs will be lost due to the end of the production of Cygnet small car. The company still plans to double sales by 2016 with upgrades of its most popular sports car.
