Unidentified buyer bought in a private transaction 1963 Ferrari 250 GTO and with that transaction this car became the world’s most expensive car. The car has been formerly owned by the Greenwich, Connecticut-based collector Paul Pappalardo and it was driven in many historic races, including the 2002 Le Mans Classic. Ferrari has made only 36 of 250 GTO in 1962. Value of classic cars continue to grow (especially Ferraris of the 1950s and 1960s) and according to Blackhawk Collection’s dealer Don Williams, Ferrari GTO is considered the top car to own. “It’s like the Mona Lisa. It has a mystique. If you have a GTO, you have a great collection.”, he said.
