Mercedes-Benz has commissioned 80 silkscreens depicting 20 different cars, but only 36 silkscreens depicting 8 cars were completed before Warhol’s death om 1987. The most famous silkscreen is Mercedes-Benz W 196 R Grand Prix Car and currently owned by Daimler. Daimler also owns the rest of the silkscreens. The silkscreen Mercedes-Benz W 196 R Grand Prix Car will be on auction on 12^th November at Christie’s Postwar and Contemporary Evening Sale in New York City and estimated price is between $12 million and $16 million.
