Maserati has collaborated with fashion luxury brand Ermenegildo Zegna and introduced special limited edition of the Maserati Quattroporte. This beauty features 530hp, V8 twin turbo engine, 650Nm of torque and needs just 4.7 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h. It’s also packed with exclusive body color, diamond-polished colored rims, higher quality interior and 20-inch wheels. This Quatrroporte Ermenegildo Zegna version has two aluminum plaques (on the roof pillar and in the interior of center console) with the inscription „Ermenegildo Zegna Exclusively for Maserati“. Unidentified buyer bought in a private transaction 1963 Ferrari 250 GTO and with that transaction this car became the world’s most expensive car. The car has been formerly owned by the Greenwich, Connecticut-based collector Paul Pappalardo and it was driven in many historic races, including the 2002 Le Mans Classic. Ferrari has made only 36 of 250 GTO  in 1962. Value of classic cars continue to grow (especially Ferraris of the 1950s and 1960s) and according to Blackhawk Collection’s dealer Don Williams, Ferrari GTO is considered the top car to own. “It’s like the Mona Lisa. Jalopnik first posted photos and videos of Wednesday’s accident in the Seattle-area when Tesla Model S caught on fire. Shortly after the accident, Tesla released a short statement, just claiming that the driver survived without injury. Musk yesterday explained that the cause of the accident appeared to be a piece of metal that fell off a semi-trailer and struck the Model S. According to him, the metal piece from a semi-trailer caused a powerful lever action as it went under the car and that only a force of 25 tons would’ve been strong enough to punch the 3-inch hole in the armor plate at the base of the Model S. Luckily, the flames didn’t enter the passenger compartment, because the fire started in the front battery section and was contained to that ares. Tesla’s shares are up 434% so far in 2013 despite this incident, when between Wednesday and Thursday stock slumped more than 10%. Continue reading »

BMW has launched app M Laptimer that is compatible only with vehicles equipped with BMW Apps (M Division and normal models), a system that can’t be retrofitted after the BMW leaves the factory. M Laptimer has a social media function that lets users brag with results on Facebook and Twitter. With app a wide variety of other details can be accessed such as throttle and braking inputs, engine rpm, ambient temperature and g-force. Drivers can zoom in and out, rewind and fast forward through the track recordings. It also has a Comparison Mode, which displays individual or dual runs in real time, including laps shared by other users, so amateur racers can improve their skills by seeing where better drivers tackled a course differently. BMW turns 100 in 2016 and it will probably launch a hardcore coupe version of the upcoming M4 sports car, similar to 2009’s M3 GTS model. This hardcore coupe will feature 430hp, 369 pound-feed of torque, turbocharged straight-six engine and weigh less than 3,300 pounds. It will come with either a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch box. M4’s cabin will be stripped of most luxury amenities, only a pair of racing bucket seats, possibly a roll cage, carbon fiber and Alcantara trim.
