The new 7-Series model has a prominent grille, an upward sweeping beltline and a dual exhaust system. This model is expected to ride on a lightweight platform that uses aluminium, carbon fiber and steel. Reports are indicationg that the model could have a 260 bhp (194 KW) 4-cylinder, 340 bhp (254 KW) 6-cylinder and 460 bhp (343 KW) V8. We can probably expect a new M770I xDrive with a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 that has approx. 475 bhp (354 KW) and 480 lb-ft (650 Nm) of torque.

BMW revealed today that it will debut the next-generation M3 sedan and its nameplate-debuting M4 coupe at the same time. Previous versions of the M3 lineup (this lineup typically include coupe, sedan and convertible variants) have all debuted separately. M3 sedan and M4 coupe will weigh ca. 3,300 lbs and have approx. 430hp and 369 lb-ft. of torque from their twin-turbocharged, 3.0-liter straight six-cylinder engines. They will also use a unique ZF-developed electric power steering system designed to deliver more road feel than a typical boosted setup. Continue reading »

Lamborghini Cabrera was spotted at the Nürburgring and it appears to be taking proportions and themes from the Aventador – an unsurprisingly design path, and one super car buyers are likely to appreciate in droves. The model Cabrera will likely sport an updated version of the 5.2-liter V10 engine found in the current model, with output increased to ca. 600 hp, indicating a likely tag of LP 600-4 appended to its name. The most welcome change to the car’s mechanical configuration is likely to be the expected replacement of the archaic and clunky e-gear automated manual with a modern seven-speed dual clutch transmission. Cabrera will probably take its spot in the Lamborghini lineup late in 2014 as a 2015 model. Continue reading »

Porsche will debut in November at the Los Angeles Auto Show its two new models. First up is 911 Turbo Cabriolet, whose 3.8-liter twin-turbo flat-six develops 520 hp, driving the droptop to 60 mph in 3.3 seconds. The 911 Turbo S Cabriolet will have 560 hp to drop the benchmark acceleration run down to 3.1 seconds. That makes the new models 30 horses stronger and 0.2 seconds quickier than the respective models they replace. They will cost $160,700 and $193,900. Bluebird DC50 sportscar and Bluebird GTL formula racer should be showcased this month at the Sustainable MotorExpo event, which was set to take place on September 28th at the National Motor Museum in  England, but the event has now been pushed to next spring.

Bluebird DC50 and GTL will be a high-performance electric vehicles.

Whether the Bluebird team will choose to wait that long or simply select/create another event at which to unveil its new vehicles remains to be seen. Continue reading »

BMW X5 remains a five or sevem-passenger sports »activity« vehicle and it is powered by 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder, twin-power turbocharged engine that makes 300 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque. This six-cylinder, badget wither as X5 sDrive 35i or xDrive35i now features a 0-60 mph time of 6.2 seconds, which is an improvement of 0.2 seconds over the previous X5 version. There are also available full-grunt V8-powered xDrive50i or diesel-sipping xDrive35d. All engines are mated to BMW’s eight-speed automatic with Steptronic manual-style control via a pair of steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.
